Here are just a few of the misconception's about the orange order and its members.

1. The orange order are all racist.

1A . Well this is one of fist things people say to us when they wish to be derogatory towards the orange order. The fact of the matter is the Orange order will accept protestants of any colour without prejudice. Hence the Lodges in Ghana , Togo , and even Mohawk indians in Canada.

2. I am not a protestant
2A.You would be suprised by the number of people who do not actually know they are protestant. at this time there are over 25,000 Protestant-denominations. including some of the following. Anglican, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Chapel, Seventh-Day Adventist, Mormon, Quakers, To list them all would take a few days. But try a google search for "protestant denominations" to find a full list

3.This is one of the most feared things people think of us. "Terrorists"
3A.What you have to think of is this. If you live in England and an invading force came and threated your belief, family, country you would defend it the best way you could.In Ulster this WAS the case and still is in certain areas. Each and every day a struggle to stay Brittish threats against you're belief and attacks on your country the Brittish in Ulster defended it the best they could. The orange order was born in Ulster but has spread word wide. As most of the world has not had the troubles like in Ulster the orange order is a protestant fraternity of people who celibrate being a protestant and the values that come from it.This does not mean everyone in the orange order is a member of a paramilitary organization.

4.With the peace now in "ireland" why bother?
4A. As we are celibrating the protestant faith and the victories over adversity. The fact religeon is only present in the backs of most peoples minds these days it still serves a purpose to show that around the world people are not affraid to hold a bible in hand and walk on a parade to say " I am a christian this is my belief. "

5. why should I / my family join the orange order?
5A.Everyone who joins the orange order does so for different reasons. Myself i have a saying " Jesus forgives us for our sins. Without Jesus who takes on this burden?. The answer is society. " With more and more people forgetting about religeon society is paying the price. I find comfort in the fact that me and my family can go out and be with hundreds of christains spreading the word of god and showing that my religeon is as important today as it was hundreds of years ago. some people say "can't you do this at your local church? " we can and do but unless we have 800 people sitting outside our church waiting for us to come out and spread the word of god we do not reach that many people.
